Group IB Results

We congratulate our students from the other Dulwich College International schools who have just received their IB Diploma Programme results. All Year 13 students from our Colleges in Shanghai, Beijing and Suzhou completed their IB Diploma in May and achieved outstanding results.

68,450 students worldwide sat the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and set the global average score at 29.8 out of 45. The Dulwich College International average score this year was 37.1 out of 45.

160 students worldwide achieved perfect scores of 45 and 4 of these students are from Dulwich College Beijing. Where 1 in 428 IB Diploma students achieved a perfect score this year, 1 in 40 DCI students did.

29% of Dulwich College International students who took the IBDP were awarded 40 points or more and 93.2% of our students who studied Mandarin gained 6 or 7 points in the subject.

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is recognised worldwide as among the most rigorous courses of study. Such exceptional results reflect the hard work of our students and the dedication of our teachers and staff. This year, our graduates have secured places in the world's top universities, including the University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, University College London, Imperial College London, King's College London, Cornell University, Brown University and University of California, Berkeley. We wish all our graduates great success at their chosen universities and beyond.

Brian McDouall the Director of Schools for Dulwich College International said:

"Once again the DCI average has risen significantly – a superb effort by students and staff. Many congratulations to all."

Language learning is an important part of our learning philosophy at Dulwich. We believe that learning a language is essential to understanding the world and to appreciate the subtleties of cultural differences.

Dulwich College International schools have developed a strong Mandarin programme. At Dulwich College (Singapore) Mandarin is taught as a native language, second language and foreign language. Our progressive learning model includes a Dual Language approach in DUCKS, our Early Years, and into the Junior School. Throughout the College, Mandarin is taught daily and is streamed according to ability, from native speaker to absolute beginner. Student learning goes beyond speaking, listening, reading and writing to involve workshops and activities that immerse students in the richness of the Chinese culture.

In addition to our Mandarin programme, Senior School student can choose to learn French or Spanish. Budding linguists can continue to study their chosen languages as part of their IGCSE.

Our students come from a wide range of linguistic and cultural backgrounds, with over 50 different nationalities represented in our diverse student body. We are able to support a percentage of students who are non-native English speakers. Students who require additional English language teaching to access the curriculum are provided with English as an Additional Language (EAL) support. Working closely with the class and subject teachers, our language specialists help students develop the skills necessary to complete their school work in English and benefit fully from all the College has to offer.

Dulwich College (Singapore) opened in August 2014 and is recognised as a leading international school in the city. We offer a rigorous and supportive academic programme. Our College is academically selective and socially inclusive. The primary language of the classroom is English and to ensure our students receive the support they need, we assess the level of English of non-native speakers.
